Life vs. Business – Are They Really That Different?

As our personal lives have collided with our work lives during this ridiculously unprecedented time, I’d like to invite you to consider something I’ve been working on for 2+ years working in a remote setting:

“What in your personal life mirrors your business goals?”

I promise you, both your personal and business goals can be achieved simultaneously if you challenge yourself to find the correlations.

For example...

If you spend an hour in the morning doing arts and crafts with your kid, how does that reflect back to your business? For me, it clears my brain of clutter and gives me “free” focus time. I might even come up with a new creative idea for a new product because of the space I am making in my mind.

Example two...

We can’t go physically shopping right now and there’s only so much Amazon can fulfill, especially for those of us who like to try things on. So, go shopping in your closet! Find new ways to wear the same things. How can that relate back to your business? Well, how are you using your current digital tools right now? Have you been using Instagram to only post product shots? Maybe now’s the time to incorporate those products with an activity. Do you use Asana for tasking things out to team members but are now finding that with reduced client hours it’s not really necessary? Well, why not use it to create project lists and organize content and other graphic assets instead?

Example three...

You spend your evening baking, creating new recipes to use up the ingredients you’ve got on hand – maybe adding in some extra salt and omitting a few spices. How can that relate back to your business? Look back at some of the content you’ve produced over the last month or even year. What can you consolidate and turn into something relevant today that your audience wants to hear?

Need some more?

How about that exercise you feel you’re lacking without a gym, so you’ve been going on walks in your neighborhood instead. How can that relate back to your business? Why not stick in some earbuds and listen to that online course you never got around to, that will help you in your business where you are stuck? If anything, it will give you that momentum, just as actually physically moving will give you quite literally.

I want to hear your roadblocks and I promise, I’ll respond back with an opportunity!
